My Unfiltered ClassPass Review! (Part 2/2)

My Unfiltered ClassPass Review! (Part 2/2)

Welcome back! In this blog, let’s dive into my personal experience of how my trial week on ClassPass has been!

In total, I went for 5 sessions using my trial credits and expended 34 credits in total! The 5 sessions consist of 2 gym entry access and 3 instructor-led classes: Circuit, Spin and Muay Thai! Classes that have instructors teaching were generally more expensive than open gym sessions (duh). Without further ado, let’s dive right into it!

1. Circuit Class at Speed Fitness

By embarking on Speed Fitness’s 8am Circuit Class, I ventured into a fitness journey that only cost me 7 credits! Tucked away in Horsecity, just a 10-minute stroll from Sixth Avenue MRT, this fitness haven promises a challenge. For those driving, rejoice! Free parking awaits just 5-10 minutes from Horsecity—click here for directions!

Under Coach Yong’s guidance, our group of 8 navigated through 8 stations. Before the class, Coach Yong meticulously set up each station, even detailing exercises on a whiteboard. The workout? An every minute on the minute (EMOM) circuit, weaving through intense exercises with preset rest intervals. Coach Yong, the fitness wizard, expertly balanced pushing us to our limits while ensuring our safety. His skillful guidance transformed the class into an engaging learning experience, explaining advanced moves and correcting postures along the way.

Now, onto a minor note: Speed Fitness lacks shower facilities and towels. To those planning a visit, pack your towel and a fresh set of clothes for a clean post-session experience!

Come grab a workout at Speed Fitness to unveil new exercises and unlocking fitness knowledge you never knew existed before! 🏋️‍♂️✨

2. Spin Class at XYCO Studio

Nestled along Martin Road, just a breezy ten-minute walk from the Great World MRT station, is the vibrant world of XYCO spin studio—a gem in the heart of Singapore’s CBD! Now, let me spill the beans about my debut spin class in the Lion City—brace yourself, it was quite the ride (pun intended).

As a spin newbie, nerves were definitely doing the cha-cha. To make matters worse, I was slightly late for the class (please do not be late guys). Luckily for me, the XYCO crew still graciously welcomed me. Pro tip: don’t forget your socks; they’re your ticket to sporting the stylish shoes XYCO provides.

The atmosphere was top-notch, and kudos to Instructor Valerie for not just guiding the class but also keeping tabs on my first ever spin escapade. The class was a breeze for beginners like me, with easy-to-follow moves that didn’t leave me feeling out of place. Plus, the playlist was a serious motivator—pedalling to the beats had us all feeling like Lance Armstrong!

Post-spin, shower facilities and towels were on deck for us sweaty champions. And here’s the kicker—a chill outdoor spot awaits, perfect for winding down with a post-spin cuppa, as captured in the photo above.

For those commuting to XYCO via public transport, do factor in the 10-15 minutes required to walk from either Great World, Havelock or Fort Canning MRT station, since XYCO is in the middle of all 3 stations.

Get ready for a spin-tastic initiation in the heart of CBD! 🚴‍♂️✨

3. Gym Session at Hybrid Fitness

Hidden in Orchard Shopping Centre, right next to 313 and beside Mandarin Gallery mall, Hybrid Fitness awaits our arrival on the 5th floor. Finding it is a breeze as it is conveniently located right in front of the lift — no way you will miss it. Upon stepping in, Coach Chris warmly greeted me even though he was having lunch (sorry Coach Chris 😅) , going above and beyond with a brief orientation, even though I was just there for an open gym session. He ensured that I knew the layout and the placement of different equipment, to ensure that I don’t feel like a lost soul.

Despite the rather limited space, the clever arrangement of gym equipments allowed for ample room for members to move and manoeuvre. It was evident that Hybrid Fitness thrives not only on independent workouts like mine but also hosts personalised training sessions, creating a dynamic fitness environment. 💪🏋️‍♂️

4. Gym Session at Platinum Fitness

Platinum Fitness boasts three convenient locations across Singapore: Robertson Quay, Tanglin Mall, and OUE Downtown. My visit was to the branch at Tanglin Mall, and the first thing that caught my attention was it’s vibrant atmosphere. It was brightly lit and gave off an energising ambiance that would fuel anyone’s workout motivation instantly. The check-in process was a breeze, involving a simple online waiver form. All the necessary equipment and facilities were readily accessible within the gym.

Efficient capacity management also meant that I never felt restricted in accessing the equipment I needed. Locating Platinum Fitness in Tanglin mall may be a little challenging as it is tucked away in a corner at level 2 so do keep your eyes peeled once you reach level 2 of Tanglin mall. Overall, Platinum Fitness exuded a clean and  sleek environment with it’s minimalist aesthetic, making it the perfect place for an effective workout session. 🏋️‍♂️💡

5. Muay Thai Session at Ghetto Fitness

My last ClassPass free trial adventure led me to a heart-pounding Muay Thai session at Jalan Besar! Stepping into the studio felt like walking into a warm, familiar haven where everyone shared an unspoken camaraderie. The session, led by Coach Shaun, unfolded like a collective journey of endurance and encouragement. As we collectively tackled the challenge of 50 sit-ups, the spirit of unity emerged—because, as they say, those who suffer together, stay together.

Ghetto Fitness is definitely your go-to stress-busting sanctuary if you’re seeking an intense workout. The pad-work and bag-work really did push us to our limits, especially the demanding task of delivering 100 kicks per leg on the heavy bag to end the workout.

Do take note that if you’re a fighter who loves doing work on the heavy bag, the amount of heavy bags available at Ghetto Fitness might be a little limited at 3 as compared to other gyms. Although they may be lacking in heavy bags, every student, myself included, felt utterly spent, with most of us barely able to summon the strength to lift ourselves off the workout mats after the session. That’s a testament to the true grit and intensity of the session! 👊💥

Conclusion

My ClassPass trial week was undeniably delightful, as it gave me the chance to try out a diverse range of physical activities and also the opportunity to explore new activities under the guidance of qualified and seasoned instructors.

Now that my ClassPass trial week has come to an end, I’ve started exploring alternatives to continue my fitness journey in Singapore. One intriguing option is vibefam! We’re an alternative platform that offers single-session bookings without any commitment. This flexibility sets us apart from ClassPass, which requires users to buy credits in a package.
