Studio Software That Costs Less Than Mindbody, With No Long-Term Contract

By Monica Subramaniam
Studio Software That Costs Less Than Mindbody, With No Long-Term Contract

Prices and contract terms come from each vendor's own pricing, terms and help pages, checked on 28 October 2026. Operator-reported Mindbody figures are labelled and predate Mindbody's 2026 price change. Vibefam publishes this guide and competes with every platform here, so we say plainly where Mindbody and others beat us on price.

Which Studio Software Costs Less Than Mindbody Without a Long-Term Contract?

Yes, there's studio software cheaper than Mindbody with no long-term contract, but only against the tier you'd actually need. Only Punchpass, at $59, undercuts Mindbody's $79 Starter on published price with no long-term contract. Against Mindbody's quote-based boutique tiers, TeamUp ($189 at 101 to 200 active customers), OfferingTree ($120 to $250) and Vibefam ($109 to $289 month-to-month) publish cancel-anytime terms.

To be fair to Mindbody, it does offer month-to-month plans, with a 90-day minimum. Prices and contract terms last checked on vendor pages on 28 October 2026.

If you're reading this, your renewal date is probably on the calendar and the bill has crept past what you signed for. So the honest version of this question has two parts. Compare against the Mindbody tier a boutique studio actually runs on, not the $79 headline. And read the contract, not the billing frequency. Plenty of software is billed monthly and still locks you in for a year.

Mindbody Alternatives With No Contract, Compared in 2027

Of the seven platforms below, four state cancel-anytime monthly terms: TeamUp, OfferingTree, Punchpass and Vibefam's month-to-month plans, with prices from $59 a month for Punchpass. Mindbody, the benchmark row, offers month-to-month with a 90-day minimum. Pike13 is the cautionary row: billed monthly, but on an annual contract.

Does Mindbody Have Month-to-Month Plans?

Yes. Mindbody's own contracts and cancellation guide, published in March 2026, says "Most month-to-month contracts begin with a standard 90-day minimum commitment." It also offers fixed terms of 12, 24 or 36 months. So the common claim that Mindbody forces a long contract isn't accurate.

The details still matter. Mindbody contracts automatically renew at the end of the term unless terminated, and Mindbody currently requires at least 30 days' notice before the term ends. On a fixed term, "Cancellation is not available mid-term unless otherwise stated in your Order Form." On month-to-month, you can generally cancel after the 90-day minimum with 30 days' notice before your next billing date.

Mindbody's terms of service add two more points worth knowing: payment obligations are "non-cancelable" for the subscription term, and Mindbody can raise locked fees at your next renewal term. Our Mindbody review covers the platform beyond its contract.

Is It Really Cheaper Than Mindbody? How to Compare Fairly

Compare against the tier you'd use. Mindbody's $79 Starter leaves out lead management, email and text campaigns, promo codes, Client Pick-a-Spot, the AI front desk and the branded app, per Mindbody's July 2026 pricing announcement and pricing page. Those sit on Accelerate and Ultimate, which are quote-based.

Boutique must-haveOn Mindbody Starter ($79)?Mindbody tier that includes it

Automated email and text campaignsNoUltimate (quote-based)
Promo codesNoAccelerate (quote-based)
Client Pick-a-SpotNoAccelerate (quote-based)
AI front desk (AI Concierge)NoUltimate; add-on on Accelerate
Branded member appNoAdd-on on Accelerate or Ultimate (price unpublished)
Unlimited staff loginsYesAll tiers

What do those tiers cost? Mindbody doesn't publish it. Before its 2026 price change, operators reported Accelerate at about $259 to $289 a month, Ultimate at about $499 and a branded app at $249 to $299 on top, compiled in our Mindbody pricing guide. Treat those as operator-reported and out of date, and get a written quote.

Against that, the published month-to-month numbers look like this. Vibefam's Most Popular plan ($209) plus its branded app ($80) is $289. TeamUp at 101 to 200 active customers ($189) plus its branded app ($99) is $288. OfferingTree's Studio Grow ($180) plus its app ($120) is $300. Feature sets differ, so check each against your must-haves in a demo.

Then add the costs that don't show up in a list price. Mindbody takes 20%, capped at $30, on a new client's first purchase through the Mindbody app, and adds a fixed $0.10 to $0.30 per transaction on top of an unpublished percentage rate. Don't try to net out processing between vendors; ask each for its full rate in writing. To be fair, that fee buys reach: Mindbody says its app has more than 3 million active users, and none of the no-contract options here advertise a consumer marketplace. If app discovery fills your intro offers, price that in too.

In our observations supporting boutique studios across North America and APAC, owners leaving Mindbody rarely say it lacks features. They say they're paying for far more platform than they use, and that the bill crept up through add-ons. That's exactly why the tier comparison matters more than the headline.

Billed Monthly Isn't the Same as No Contract

A monthly price on a pricing page tells you how you're billed, not how long you're committed. Pike13's help center says its subscriptions "are on an annual contract and automatically renew", and cancelling before renewal triggers "an early termination fee equal to 50% of the remaining contract balance". Its plans still show monthly prices from $159.

WellnessLiving works differently again. Its Business Terms, updated in October 2026, set your term in the Order Form and renew it "for an additional term of equal length". If your Payments By WellnessLiving term is anything other than month to month, the early-termination fee is "calculated as 100% of the fees that WL would have received" for the rest of the term. If you also end Payments By WellnessLiving, there's a data extraction and transfer fee per data set, set in your Order Form, although the terms also offer a free export of your business information. Our WellnessLiving vs Mindbody comparison covers the rest.

And Vibefam's annual plans are a 12-month commitment too. That's the trade for the lower monthly price.

What to get in writing, from anyone: the minimum term, whether it auto-renews, the notice window, any early-termination fee and what a data export costs. If those five answers aren't on paper, it isn't a no-contract plan.

Which Platforms Put Cancel-Anytime Terms in Writing?

TeamUp has the plainest wording of any vendor we checked: "There is no contract or long-term commitment with TeamUp," and you can cancel "at any time without penalties". OfferingTree, Punchpass and Vibefam's month-to-month plans also publish cancel-anytime terms, each with its own fine print.

OfferingTree says "cancel anytime" on its pricing page, and its cancellation policy says monthly cancellation stops all future billing, with no refunds on monthly plans. Punchpass says it has "no long-term contracts that lock you in", and its support article says cancellation takes effect on your next billing date. It's a lighter tool, better suited to smaller studios. Vibefam's month-to-month plans carry no early-termination fee; the 12-month commitment applies only to annual plans.

Quote-only vendors are harder to judge. Glofox advertises "flexible contracts" on its plans page without publishing a term, and Momence and Arketa's studio plans show no prices at all, so you can't verify their terms without a quote. Our Momence vs Mindbody comparison and our top Mindbody alternatives for studio management go further.

How Do You Cancel Mindbody Without Losing Data or Stored Cards?

Start with your Order Form, which Mindbody says "outlines your specific contract length, renewal terms, and notice requirements", then work back from your renewal date. Notice must land at least 30 days before the term ends. You keep data access until your site deactivates, and Mindbody's paid export service runs for up to 30 days after cancellation.

  1. Find your Order Form and note your term type, end date and notice requirement.
  2. Mark the notice deadline: at least 30 days before the term ends, or before your next billing date on month-to-month after the 90-day minimum. Fixed terms can't be cancelled mid-term unless your Order Form allows it.
  3. Cancel through Mindbody support, by phone or online, and get your final service date confirmed in writing.
  4. Export your data before deactivation. Standard CSV exports are self-serve. Mindbody's export service for large volumes costs extra and is available for up to 30 days after cancellation; after that, its terms say Mindbody has no obligation to keep your data.
  5. Request the stored-card export. A switching guide published by Walla in October 2026 says Mindbody exports card data encrypted to your new processor's PGP key, needs at least five business days and asks for government ID. Ask your new platform whether it can import that file, or plan for members to re-enter cards.
  6. Overlap one billing cycle. Walla's guide suggests your Mindbody cycle end at least two weeks after migration.

In our observations supporting boutique studios across North America and APAC, most studios switch at renewal time, and some pay Mindbody for one more month to run both systems side by side. That overlap is cheap insurance against a messy first billing run. The Walla guide has the full export request steps. Owners share their own exits in our Reddit switching roundup.

What Should You Ask Before Signing Anything?

Ask every vendor the same questions, in writing, before you sign. Mindbody's own terms show why: fees stay owed for the whole subscription term, and locked fees can rise at renewal. Our Mindbody vs Glofox vs WellnessLiving comparison adds a single-location checklist if you're weighing the bigger platforms.

  1. Is there a minimum term, and does it auto-renew?
  2. How much notice do I need to cancel, and what's the early-termination fee?
  3. Can my price change at renewal?
  4. What's the processing rate, the fixed fee per transaction and any marketplace commission?
  5. Which tier unlocks the branded app, and what does it cost?
  6. How many staff logins does my plan include?
  7. What does a data export cost when I leave?
  8. Can you import my members' encrypted card file from Mindbody?

Where Vibefam Fits

Vibefam is an AI-powered, all-in-one studio management platform for boutique fitness studios in North America and Asia-Pacific. It publishes every plan price: $109 to $289 a month month-to-month and $89 to $239 on annual plans, per Vibefam's pricing page. Month-to-month has no contract and cancels anytime; annual plans are a 12-month commitment.

What you get is comprehensive software across operations and marketing. Lead management and instructor payroll are on the entry plan, which covers up to 2 locations. Every plan has a dedicated Studio Success Manager, and Vibefam Fast Migration is free for member records, contact details, packages and recurring memberships. If you're leaving Mindbody, ask us how your members' saved cards will move.

Now the concessions. Mindbody's $79 headline is lower than our entry plan, which is $109 month-to-month or $89 on a 12-month annual plan, and Punchpass ($59) and WellnessLiving Starter ($62 annual, one staff member) start lower still. Our branded app is a +$80 add-on. And we don't run a consumer marketplace, so Vibefam won't send you new clients the way the Mindbody app can.

If studio software that costs less than Mindbody, with no long-term contract, is what you're after, start the 7-day free trial or book a demo with your Mindbody invoice and Order Form in hand. We'll compare against the tier you actually use. If Mindbody still wins on your numbers, stay.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Mindbody's March 2026 contracts guide says most month-to-month contracts begin with a standard 90-day minimum commitment. After that, you can generally cancel with at least 30 days' notice before your next billing date. Mindbody also offers fixed terms of 12, 24 or 36 months, which auto-renew unless you give notice in time.

Usually not on a fixed term. Mindbody's guide says cancellation is not available mid-term unless your Order Form says otherwise, and its terms of service say fees for the whole subscription term stay owed. On month-to-month, you can cancel after the 90-day minimum with 30 days' notice. Check your Order Form for your exact terms.

Among the platforms we checked in October 2026, Punchpass has the lowest published monthly price at $59 for its Grow plan, and it says it has no long-term contracts. It's a lighter tool, capped at three automations on Grow. TeamUp, OfferingTree and Vibefam's month-to-month plans also publish cancel-anytime terms at higher prices.

Find your Order Form for your term type, end date and notice rule. Then contact Mindbody support at least 30 days before the term ends, or before your next billing date on month-to-month once the 90-day minimum has passed. Export your data and request the stored-card file before deactivation, and get your final service date in writing.

Mindbody will export them, but only in a form your new processor must be able to import. A switching guide published by Walla in October 2026 says Mindbody encrypts the file to the new processor's PGP key, needs at least five business days and asks for government ID. If your new platform can't import it, members re-enter their cards.

On headline studio-plan price, only Punchpass ($59) and WellnessLiving Starter ($62 annual, one staff member) come in under Mindbody's $79 Starter. For lead management, promo codes and a branded app, Mindbody's tiers are quote-only. Several platforms publish month-to-month prices below the pre-2026 operator-reported Mindbody tier prices ($259 to $499 a month), so get a written Mindbody quote.

No. Pike13 shows monthly prices but runs on an annual contract that auto-renews, with an early-termination fee of 50% of the remaining balance. WellnessLiving sets your term in an Order Form and renews it for an equal term. Always ask for the minimum term, notice window and exit fee in writing.

Standard CSV exports are self-serve. Mindbody's export service for large data volumes costs an added fee and is available for up to 30 days after cancellation. After that, its terms say Mindbody has no obligation to keep your data, so export everything before your site deactivates.

Only if you choose an annual plan. Vibefam's month-to-month plans, from $109 a month, have no contract, no early-termination fee and cancel anytime. Annual plans, from $89 a month, are a 12-month commitment in exchange for the lower price. Both include a dedicated Studio Success Manager and free migration of member records and memberships.
